What Is a Roller Plate?

The roller is the component that bears the load when the bearing is running. It is the weakest part in the roller bearing. Its manufacturing quality has a great impact on the working performance of the bearing (such as rotation accuracy, vibration, noise, and flexibility). The main factor of bearing life.

Roller
After the theoretical contour of the cam is determined, for the roller putter, the size of the actual contour is directly related to the size of the roller. The larger the roller radius, the smaller the actual contour. Therefore, in order to reduce the size of the cam and reduce the weight of the mechanism, it is desirable that the roller radius be larger. However, because the cam needs to be mounted on the shaft, the shaft has a certain thickness, plus the size of the hub and keyway, the cam cannot actually be made too small, and from the consideration of strength, the cam should not be too small. On the other hand, a roller that is too large will increase the inertial force (the inertia force is equal to the mass times the acceleration) during the movement of the push rod, causing the cam to withstand a large dynamic load, which is disadvantageous. More serious, too large rollers will also cause the phenomenon discussed below.
The figure below shows the same theoretical contour (dashed line), and three actual contours (solid lines) obtained with three different roller radii. When the roller radius r T is smaller than the minimum radius of curvature min on the theoretical contour (that is, the radius of curvature of the sharpest part), the actual contour obtained is normal, and its radius of curvature
. When the roller radius
Sharp points appear in the actual contours obtained, the radius of curvature at the sharp points
As mentioned earlier, this kind of sharp cam cannot be used in practice. When the roller radius
At this time, the actual contour obtained by the drawing is two intersecting envelope lines. The intersecting part cannot be made. In fact, it is still a sharp point. This sharp point is not only unusable, but when it comes in contact with the roller, the center of the roller cannot be reached. The height specified by the theoretical contour results in distortion of the putter movement, and the required movement of the putter cannot be achieved, which of course cannot be allowed.

Roller cylindrical roller

This type of roller is mainly used for cylindrical roller bearings. Roller assemblies can also be used directly in machinery. This type of roller has been standardized in size and can be used as a product roller for design and user selection.

Roller long cylindrical roller

This type of roller is divided into shaft diameter and non-shaft diameter. It is mainly used for long cylindrical roller bearings, and roller components can also be used directly in machinery.

Roller needle

This type of roller is mainly used for needle roller bearings, universal joint needle roller bearings and thrust needle roller bearings. Needle roller components can also be used directly in machinery. This type of roller has been serialized in size for design choice. According to the needs of the bearing structure, the shapes of the heads at both ends of the needle are tapered, flat, round, etc.

Roller tapered roller

It has a circular truncated cone, and its cone angle is usually 1 ° to 4 ° 20 , and there are also less than 1 ° or greater than 4 ° 20 , and most are 2 °. The length of the roller is generally not more than twice the diameter of the large end of the roller. This type of roller is mostly used for tapered roller bearings, and rollers with large tapered angle are basically used for thrust tapered roller bearings.

Roller spherical roller

The rolling surface of the roller is spherical. Bearings using this roller have self-aligning performance and can withstand large loads. Spherical rollers are divided into asymmetric and symmetrical shapes. Generally, the asymmetric large end surface is a spherical surface, and the symmetrical end surfaces are flat end surfaces. Symmetric spherical rollers have better performance, while asymmetrical ones are eliminated. This type of roller is used for spherical roller bearings and thrust spherical roller bearings.

Roller screw roller

It is a hollow roller rolled with a special section of steel strip, divided into left-handed and right-handed. This type of roller is not widely used, and is mainly used for spiral roller bearings subjected to impact loads.

Roller pillar hole roller

Pillar hole The roller is provided with a through hole in the center of the roller. This hole is used to install the pillar for fixing on the sheet pillar holder. This type of roller has cylindrical, conical and spherical shapes, and is mainly used for extra large bearings.
