What Is MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)?
Medium density fiberboard (medium density fiberboard) Medium density fiberboard is a board made of plant fiber with a density of 0.50 to 0.88g / cm3, which is formed by applying urea-formaldehyde resin or other synthetic resins and pressing under heat and pressure. Add other suitable additives to improve the properties of the board.

(Medium Density Fiberboard)
- 1. The internal structure is uniform, the density is moderate, the dimensional stability is good, and the deformation is small.
- 2. Physical and mechanical properties such as static bending strength, internal bonding strength, elastic modulus, plate surface and plate side grip screw forces are better than
- 1.Indoor type
- Medium-density fiberboard has a high production technology content. It is a modern capital- and technology-intensive modern industry with a high degree of automation in the production line. This product is also one of the better products in wood-based panel products. There are some problems, and the quality problems generally reflected are: 1. the surface of the plate is rough and the uniformity is poor, which affects the reprocessing of the plate; 2. the surface of the plate is seriously polluted, such as glue spots, oil stains, etc., affecting the reprocessing of the plate; The thickness of the plate has a large deviation; 4. The bark content of the plate is high; 5. The water resistance of the plate can not meet the needs of some application areas; 6. The middle layer of the plate is soft, the grip screw force is low, and the internal bonding strength is low, at the same time Causes rough edges of the board; 7. Excessive formaldehyde release affects human health.
- These problems are not only the problems in the production of China's medium density fiberboard, but also the gap with the advanced foreign level. Especially when the formaldehyde emission of the medium-density fiberboard is unqualified, the furniture made with it or the interior decoration material becomes a source of indoor pollution and affects human health. In addition, the uniformity, smoothness, structure, thickness deviation, and water resistance of medium-density fiberboard in China are different from foreign products. The main reasons are: the equipment accuracy is not enough, the production line automation degree, technical level, management level and quality control and other aspects still have gaps with foreign products.
- As an industrial raw material product, the main consumer groups facing MDF are enterprises, such as furniture and flooring manufacturers, and rarely meet directly with ordinary consumers as finished products. However, the quality of medium-density fiberboard directly affects the quality of finished products purchased by consumers. Because the MDF is generally decorated and manufactured into finished products before meeting with ordinary consumers, it is difficult for ordinary consumers to judge the quality of MDF from the appearance.
- But ordinary consumers can also make a few simple and intuitive judgments:
- First, the internal structure of the board can be viewed from the section of some processed holes in the finished product. The structure of the MDF is fibrous. If the structure is granular, it is likely to be particleboard rather than MDF at all. Exclude consumer fraud that pretends to be a higher price of MDF with a lower price of particleboard;
- Secondly, the more detailed and tightly structured it generally is, the better its physical and mechanical properties;
- Third, sniff the smell of the finished product at a close distance. If there is a sharp pungent odor, it is likely that the formaldehyde exceeds the standard. The use of such products will be detrimental to health.
- Fourth, ordinary consumers should try their best to choose brand-name products from large manufacturers, because their products generally use high-quality medium-density fiberboard tested by relevant departments as raw materials, which has better quality assurance.
