What is a polished plaster?

The polished gypsum creates a decorative wall, ceiling or floor surface that gives the appearance of depth and texture to simulate stone product. It is designed through three or more layers of cement material based on the lime polished manually to create the required amount of gloss. Gypsum techniques differ very much and include tinted, metal and pearl finishes.

Venetian plaster is the oldest known building material used to create decorative wall surfaces. The polished plaster is also known as Italian plaster and Venetian plaster and presents a classic interior and exterior surface used in buildings in these regions for hundreds of years. Modern polished plaster is a general term for different styles of these surfaces, including ingredients and resins that make it easier to work with material and more durable.

Tadelakt is a type of Moroccan plaster typical of steam spa houses that have gained popularity in other countries. It produces a durable surface with moderate gloss for water and cracks.The tadelakt plaster additives improve their adhesive ability and make it easier to apply with a spatula.

Stucco represents another form of plaster used inside and outer building. It is a common building material in its rough state used for exterior packaging in some regions. The stucco becomes very hard when it is dry and is useful to cover uneven surfaces such as bricks, cement blocks or concrete. The wire lathe attached to the surface helps stucco holding when sprayed or applied by means of hand tools.

Faux marble polished plaster usually appears in bathrooms, columns and decorative projects. Another technique gives the appearance of travertine because it increases the appearance of the texture in the cement. When using polished gypsum techniques, the craftsman can change the amount of shine and create light and shadows that provide depth.

Pearlescent plaster Comes from Seashell GrIT added to a cement product. It creates a silver shade with pieces of black and brown naturally found in many shells. The metal polished plaster is particularly glossy because minerals are added to the basic cement product. The polished plaster can also be colored with a wide range of pigments that match or contrast with decoration. The last surface protects the sealant or wax and creates a shine.

Decorative gypsum was first found in the Mesopotamia area in 9000 B.C. Later it was discovered in the Egyptian tombs as part of an ancient funeral work. Polished plaster has become quite common in Europe in Europe, when animal hair, beer, eggs and malt were added to the mortar to improve its strength.
