Styrofoam is widely used in various precision instruments, meters, household appliances, etc.

The main ways of recycling polystyrene foam are: granulation after volume reduction, crushing to use as various filling materials, cracking to make oil or recycling styrene and other.

I. Granulation after volume reduction: Styrofoam can be melt extruded and granulated to make recycled pellets, but it is bulky and inconvenient to transport. Usually, volume reduction is required before recycling. Methods include mechanical method, solvent method and heating method.

2. Use as filler after crushing: Polystyrene foam plastic products can be used as filler after crushing to make various products.

Foam plastic used in household appliances and other packaging or frozen food packaging; there are also a few instant noodle bowls made of expandable polystyrene beads. These plastic products are bulky and costly in terms of tuition and fees, and their recycling has received special attention in China.
