How Do I Treat a Nose Fracture?

Nasal bone fracture treatment is a complete displacement of the fracture. Extranasal reduction: applicable to laterally displaced nasal fractures. Under local anesthesia and nasal mucosal surface anesthesia, with the thumb of both hands pressing the protruding fracture piece, when the fracture is reset, you can feel the bone friction sound, and at the same time, the nasal shape returns to normal. Intranasal reduction method: suitable for nasal bone fractures with inward collapse and displacement. Anesthesia is the same as above. Use a nasal septum forceps with a soft rubber tube to insert into the nasal cavity, so that the tip contacts the fracture, and then push outward to push the reduction. At the same time, use the thumb and index finger (forefinger) of the other hand to assist in the reduction outside the nose. When the septum is broken and displaced, it extends from the nostrils along the bottom of the nose into the nasal septum, and the forceps are slowly reset upwards and forwards. After resetting, the intranasal fractures are filled with iodoform gauze strips to prevent the fractures from shifting again. 5 The nasal stuffing can be removed after ~ 6d. [1]
