What is a torn side meniscus?

Meniscus Tear is a division or tearing in a thick C cartilage in the shape of a C -shaped. There are two types of this cartilage that are located between femur of man or femur and tibia in shaving. The meniscus, located on the inner knee, is called media meniscus. The cartilage, which rests on the outside, is called a side meniscus. A torn side meniscus is a tear that affects this external cartilage.

Side meniscus, as well as media meniscus, has an important job. It helps to distribute the weight of a person through the knee joint and provide knee stability. If this cartilage was missing, the weight of a person would be unevenly applied to its femur and tibia, thereby excessive stress on the bones and knee joint. This could lead to the development of knee arthritis, a condition marked with pain, swelling and stiffness.

Later Al Meniscus with less truthThey occur firmly than the meniscus media injury, but twisting movements and knee strokes can cause this cartilage to tear. If this happens, the torn side symptoms of meniscus may include pain and tenderness, swelling and cracking or clicking on the sound at the time of the injury. This area may affect different types of tears, although the symptoms remain the same regardless of the type of tears. There is a longitudinal tear along the entire length of the meniscus, while a tearing of a bucket includes a tear and separation of a part of the meniscus. The separate area is formed by cartilage flap, which can resemble a bucket handle.

If a person suspects that he has a torn side meniscus, he should see a doctor for diagnosis. The doctor may recommend conservative or surgical treatment. Conservative treatment of this type of tears involves medicines to control pain and inflammation. The affected individual can use LED, compression bandage and even knee options that control swelling and maintain the area stable. Once the pain has subsided, the doctor may recommend a therapyá exercises.

More torn side meniscus can be treated with a surgery for repair or replacement of cartilage. Depending on the details of the tears, the surgeon can re -work the torn side meniscus. Sometimes the meniscus is removed and replaced by a donor meniscus. This procedure is called meniscus transplantation.
