What is fish therapy?

Fish therapy is one of the most unusual treatment of dry skin. During this type of therapy, individuals immerse themselves or specific parts of the body in tanks filled with fish that nibble and cut off dry dead skin. Although anyone can participate in this type of therapy, most likely it will benefit psoriasis and eczema. The fish used for this treatment are originally from parts of the Middle East and this therapy is very popular in many parts of Asia. However, some areas in the United States (USA) have forbidden this practice that they are unhygienic. However, fish therapy to treat dry skin is not so well known. This type of spa treatment involves the use of fish to remove the flakes of dead skin. Individuals can only immerse parts of their bodies, such as hands or legs, or their entire bodies in tanks or pools that hold hundreds or thousands of special fish.

The skin is soaked in water, softens, which makes it easier to nibble fish in dead skin cells. From this type of treatment will often be tTo use people with extremely dry and scaly skin such as psoriasis and eczema suffering. Individuals who had this treatment claim that it is not as painful as it sounds. In fact, most people say it just tickles.

Fish therapy is sometimes also referred to as Garra Rufa therapy, because most fish used during these treatment are Garra Rufas. Garra Rufas, also known as a doctoral fish, are a type of very small carp originating from parts of the Middle East, especially Turkey. You can find them in abundance in water pools created by natural hot springs. The temperature of this water makes it difficult to survive algae and other food sources, so these fish resort to eating the skin of bathing, which visit the springs. Other medical fish, Cyprus macrostomus, are sometimes also used for fish therapy.

This treatment is very popular in salons and spas in some parts of the world, including the Turkish spaand the Chinese spa. In some regions, however, government regulations banned fish therapy. For example, in 2011, fish therapy was banned in almost half of the states in the US. Government officials fear that this treatment is unhygienic.

Although the chances of catching fishing disease are small, measures should still be taken to prevent it. The reputable spa and salons that offer this treatment will change regularly and the water in its tanks with fish therapy. Most of these businesses use fresh water for anyone who gets this treatment, so it is usually not unhygienic than a manicure.
