What is itoprid?

Member of a class of drugs called Prokinetics, ITOPRID helps to relieve symptoms such as heartburn and abdominal pain. It has been available in Japan since 1995, but has not been approved for use in the United States or the UK. Unique among prokinetic drugs, itoprid alleviates gastrointestinal symptoms both by growing stomach contractions and by blocking chemicals that slow down these contractions. The result of these interactions is that the food goes through the stomach quickly and does not create other acid.

dyspepsia and gastroezophage reflux disease are two conditions that can be treated with itoprid. In neulcer dyspepsy, patients show chronic digestive problems, often along with flatulence and pain in the upper abdomen. Gastroesofiage reflux disease is also a chronic condition that causes burning in the upper abdomen and esophagus when stomach acid escapes into the upper digestive tract. It is not treated, this condition can experience more serious disorders, including esophageal stenosis and esophageal cancer.

jaKO type of drug called prokinetic, itoprid treats neutic dyspepsia and acid reflux by helping the stomach contents to pass through the digestive tract faster. As a result, the stomach muscles are stronger and more sensitive to food. In a healthy digestive tract, it triggers the presence of food in the system of release of stomach acid and the contraction of the stomach muscles. Increasing the sensitivity of the stomach to the presence of food helps to ensure that digestion progresses quickly.

Unlike competing prokinetics, Itopride also has a second effect on the digestive system. The stomach has a number of dopamine receptors that slow the stomach contractions and reduce their strength. Itoprid blocks dopamine receptors in the stomach. Without dopamine, the stomach contraction is able to continue until all food is pushed out of the stomach.

fast -acting medicine, itoprid starts after about 30 minutes. Generally, patients are given three daily doses about half an hour before each meal. However, medicines are not affected by the presence of food in the stomach and in the case of sweatIt can be taken during or after a meal. Little side effects are associated with the use of this drug, although some patients have headaches, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It has not been shown that ITOPRID affects the patient's heart rhythm, unlike some other available prokinetic drugs.
