What is kinesiological therapy?
kinesiological therapy is a type of alternative treatment based on the concept that muscle reaction can be a source of information about unfavorable health conditions and the form of treatment that will lead to healing. This therapy includes an Asian concept chi or energy flow. If Chi does not move unlimited throughout the body, it reflects the reaction of the muscles and tells the person to know that there is an imbalance. This effect was discovered in the 1930s of the 20th century by Dr. Robert Lovett, who tried to measure the amount of damage in patients suffering from spinal cord or injury, and at the age of 60 he was further specified by the chiropractor of Dr. George Goodheart. Since then, several types of kinesiological therapy have been developed. One of the applications of this traditional kinesiological therapy that is still used to this day is to train athletes to improve their performance as they move, and by determining what they can do to exceed their previous athletic successes. Traditional kinesiology is used by physiotherapists and sports therapists.
In 1964 Goodheart found that the muscle of a person who previously tested as a weak was subsequently tested as strong when pressure was applied to another acupuncture point. This knowledge was the beginning of applied kinesiological therapy, alternative methods of healing generally used chiropractics, osteopathy and several doctors. Applied kinesiology was most commonly used to treat pain until the book written by Dr. John Thie in the 70s described which acupuncture points should be pushed during kinesiological therapy in order to provide a form of biofeedback that can lead to a specific suffering. This form of kinesiological therapy is commonly referred to as muscle testing.
There are different techniques that can be used by kinesiological therapist to test human muscle strength. One of the common techniques is to have a client stand directly in front of the therapist and hold one arm to the side, so it is parallel to the floor. CliffNT then tries to resist and keep your hand in the same position while the therapist pushes down on the arm and pushes various acupuncture points. If the client's arms weaken and drop down, it tells the therapist that the body system or function corresponding to the acupuncture point is in the state of imbalance and need to be treated.
