What should I do after brachytherapy?

Brachytherapy is a type of prostate cancer treatment used to supply radiation doses to the prostate for the year. After brachytherapy you will probably get a set of instructions from your doctor. You will probably be told to follow some security measures and look for any problems that may occur as a result of treatment that begins with surgery. These seeds contain high radiation levels and have been developed so that it supply a small amount of radiation to your prostate for twelve months. Depending on whether cancer is considered low or high risk, the treatment method can be used in itself or in combination with other forms of radiation. Most likely there will be a catheter in the penis to relieve your bladder, but after anesthesia disappears, it usually removes. The implant procedure is considered an outpatient surgery, so if everything goes well, you can go home on the same day.

You may need to use antibiotic creams after brachytherapy if your doctor orders you. This cream will be applied to the surgical area to prevent infections. Some spots may also occur due to the rectal bleeding for the first few days after the operation. If they don't disappear, you may need to talk to your doctor.

After treatment, you will be instructed to monitor any signs of infection or problems concerning surgery. These problems may include urination problems, persisting pain and constipation. If these problems become annoying, you may need to talk to your doctor. The catheter may need to be used for a while or the drug change may be needed.

While metal seeds are designed to remain inside the prostate for the duration of a human life, sometimes it can go through your system, so after surgery you can find one in urine or bed. You will probably need to rinse these seeds around the toiletand inform your doctor about them. When you lick the metal seed that you found on the bed, use another object to pick it up so as not to expose your hands to radiation.

Your doctor will explain to you any of your restrictions before you leave the hospital. A few days after the operation you will not be able to lift anything heavy or take part in no strenuous activities. After about a week you will be able to restore most of your normal activity.

Some safety measures will also be explained after the treatment of brachytherapy. Children will not be able to sit on their lap for more than five minutes per day for up to six months, depending on the treatment method. For the first two months you will always have to wear a condom when participating in sexual relationships. In addition, due to the low radiation level that may be present in areas other than prostate, you should avoid direct contact with pregnant women for at least three months.

Your subsequent treatment will generally include X -rays and scanning to determine whether withEmena remains in place and works properly. Blood tests can also be carried out to determine the levels of the antigen of a specific prostate (PSA). These levels are generally checked regularly after brachytherapy to monitor prostate cancer progression.
