How do I grow chestnut seeds?
The chestnut tree can be easily grown from seeds if you are patient and diligent. In order to grow chestnut seeds, you will need to collect the fallen chestnut exchanges from adult trees during the autumn months or buy seeds from the agricultural center. The seeds will have to be prepared first before planting, allowing them to hibernate for proper germination. You will also have to prepare a site for spring planting, which includes the most optimal conditions for growth.
In order to prepare seeds for germination, they will have to experience the process of hibernation that can be simulated in your home environment. Open the hard outer skin with a small curious tool and make sure that you will not penetrate too deep into the seed. The conditions of hibernation can be re -established using SPHAGNUM MOSS. Put the chestnut seeds in a small zipper bag and place it in the refrigerator for about four months. The damp sphagnum MOSS ensures that the seeds do not dry and die during the hibernation process.
Once hibernation is over, you want to prepare a place to plant chestnut seeds during the first spring months. Using the shovel, dig a hole about 2 feet (0.6096 m) wide and 2 feet (0.6096 m) deep. Fill the hole with a mixture of soil mixed with peat bogs. The peat moss offers proper irrigation and drainage of water, allowing seeds to grow without threatening drowning.
After setting the foundation, place the chestnut seeds in the center of each hole and make sure to cover them with 1 inch (2.54 cm) of the soil. Ensure the soil lightly by wrapping your hands or using the back of the shovel. Instead of water hose, pour the surrounding soil spray bottles because the pressure from the hose pushes the neatly wrapped soil. Finally, place the thin layer of mulch on the attic to reduce the loss and erosion of the humidity from the elements and avert the invasion of weeds.
As soon as the chestnut seeds hatch, you will have to be careful when protecting its fine shoots. You can do this by creating pEqual barriers with empty one gallon container. Cut the container in half, length and cover the plant. Once the seedlings of the grazing to the top, you can destroy the bucket because the plant will now be mature enough to withstand the elements.
