How can I treat fleas for a puppy?
Fleas on the puppy can cause serious health problems, but typical medicines for fleas used in adult dogs cannot be used for puppies because they are too hard. However, there are a number of milder remedies that can be used for fleas puppies. Swimming a puppy in a slight soap for washing dishes is useful and combing. The surrounding environment of the puppy should also be disinfected.
It is easy to find fleas on the puppy. They are visible as a small, brown, flat insects with three sets of two legs. Fleas survive by biting their hosts and sucking their blood. Their bite causes redness and itching on most dogs, but some dogs have little or no reaction to them.
It is not unusual that puppies have fleas. In fact, fleas for puppies are a problem rather than for adult dogs. While adult dogs can experience itching and discomfort from fleas, too many fleas can cause small puppies to become anemic. Anemia can lead to a number of health problems, PROto weaken the immune system that causes the puppy to be more susceptible to all kinds of diseases.
puppies within eight weeks of age, must be treated for fleas differently than adult dogs. They are more sensitive to harsh chemicals and pesticides that are used to treat larger dogs. Fleas on the puppy should be treated lukewarm bath in the dishwasher washing, which is sufficiently mild, not irritating the skin of the puppy and contains no dangerous pesticides. After the bath, the puppy should be gently fought with a flea ridge that should remove the remaining fleas. Any living fleas that are removed by the comb should be inserted into a bowl of hot water to kill them.
Bath and flea ridge can kill fleas on the puppy, but the measures must be taken to make sure the puppy is not over again. If a puppy with fleas is still with a mother, it is most likely that the mother dog also has fleas and should beproperly treated. All dog bedding should be washed in hot water and the house should be thoroughly vacuumed, especially in the corners and around the floor plates where fleas would like to live. On the same day, all measures should be eradicated. Lightning is quickly reproduced so that the disinfected area can easily be infected within a few days.
Once the puppy is eight weeks, the infestation may be corrected in other ways. Commercial fleas, such as Frontline® or Advantix®, are widely recommended. These products are administered about once a month and kill and repel fleas and ticks. Flea killing products such as pills, shampoos or collar are not recommended because they are strong and can irritate the skin of a pet and are less effective than monthly medicines.
