What are caudal fins?

Caudal fin or tail fins drives the fish over the water and allows it to swim. There are different shapes of the tail fin for different types of fish. The size and arrangement of the fins determines how fast and how the fish floats. It can also be an indicator of a general type of fish and the environment in which it lives.

usually have caudal fins upper and lower lobes. In bony fish, lobes are generally the same size and shape. This is called the homoceric tail fins. The homocerCal tail ends and connects to the spine of the fish. Hytani from side to side of the caudal fin allows the fish to be driven by water by what is called carangorform locomotion .

and a caudal shank is located at the base of the tail fin. It has different uses for different fish types depending on their environment and natural defense. Some fish shortened the tail fins roughly the shape of the triangle without separate lobes. Fish that inhabit the reverse part of the water and the camouflage itself tends to have triangular caudal fin. ANDNo as fast as other fish, the design allows a rapid explosion of speed leakage and hides.

The rounded tail fins are found on fish that can be seen in shallow waters. This shape of caudal fins is useful for fast maneuvering between stones, grasses and tight places. Unlike most other fish, the caudal fin of the eel is associated with all its side fins and ovates along the entire length of its long mud. This allows fast and strong swimming when hunting food.

Caudal fins of the shark family differ from bony fish. In some sharks, the vertebrae spread through the upper lobe, which is longer than the lower lobe. This is referred to as a heterocenerCal tail. Other types of sharks have a crescent homoceric tails, sometimes called a luned tail. The caudal shank of some sharks is horizontally flattened into the ridge such as hernia, which helps stabilize the shark runningem swimming.

There are some fish species that have no caudal fin. Instead, they use side fins or some other form of locomine. The complete lack of tail fins is rare between fish. Examples of this phenomenon are the Ray family of fish, with a whip like tails and sea horses that swim upright.
