What are Lucite® bracelets?
Because the first plastics were created at the beginning of the 20th century, some jewelry designers used these materials instead of traditional metal or gems. During the 1950s and 1960s, Lucite® bracelets were one of the hottest jewelry trends. Although these hard plastic bracelets can be made of many composites, they are often referred to as LUCITE® bracelets, after the popular version of the brand of this material. These acrylic bracelets can be as clear as glass or built with color or even small gems or spells. Today, collectors are looking for LUCITE® bracelets for their classic, vintage attraction.
In the course of history, one relied on natural materials such as metal, bones and ceramics to produce bracelets and other types of jewelry. After a hard plastic known as Bakelite® was introduced at the beginning of the 20th century, Chanel began to introduce top fashion jewelry made of this pure plastic. In 1931 patented DuPont Patented Lutite®, which is very similar to modern plexiglaSU. Lucite® was widely used throughout the World War II for the production of windows for aircraft and other military vehicles. After the war, manufacturers began to produce Lucite® bracelets and other acrylic jewelry.
LUCITE® is a thermoplastic material made of methylmethakrylate. It is an alternative to the glass resistant to breaking and it seems to be quite clear as glass. When this material is used to produce bracelets and jewelry, it helps to reflect light as glass or diamonds. It is also relatively cheap and lightweight, so it is comfortable and affordable to the general public.
Designers can create these bracelets using Pure Lucite® or a combination of LUCITE® and other material. For example, strong, chunky lutite® bracelets were at the age of 50 and 60. Bracelets can be formed into one folder or combined withother pieces of Lucite® or metal to form a buckle.
LUCITE® iconic bracelet has a thick geometric design and is formed in a single piece of material designed to slip through the wrist. Similar varieties represented integral color, patterns or patterns that gave them a more vivid appearance. Classic LUCITE® bracelets can also be built with small stones or trinkets, including glitters, shells and flowers. Some of these bracelets have been carved in shapes of patterns or created in a special form to form the required texture.
