What are the badges of merit?

Badge merit is the price that a scout can earn by displaying knowledge and abilities in a particular subject. Currently, more than 100 different badges are available for scout. Each badge of merit represents a specific field of knowledge that a scout could consider interesting and useful. Earning a creditor badge is an honor in itself, but it also serves as a springboard for a new scout. The manual also explains the number of badges of merit needed to achieve every rank. In order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouts, the scout must earn 21 meritorious badges. Of these 21 badges, the scout must earn 12 out of 15 possible badge of merit.
