What are Nightcrawlers?
Nightcrawlers are a type of earthworm that occurs in many parts of Europe and North America. Compared to more advanced animals, their anatomy is relatively simple. They commonly occur in gardens, fields and lawns, where they perform an important role of aeration and fertilization of soil. In addition, NightCrawlers are a source of food for many different animals and also a popular fishing bait. It is assumed that the worms were introduced to North America during the 17th century. Over time, the worms have become prevailing in many parts of Canada and the United States.
Compared to more advanced animals, the anatomy of the night juice is quite simple. It usually measures about 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) in length and can be up to 0.4 inches (approximately 1 cm) across. The body of the worm consists of a head containing a small bra and more hearts, a long digestive tract surrounded by muscles and tail. He has no lungs, instead breathes by receiving oxygen through damp skin. Nightcrawlers also lack the earsAnd the eyes, even if they can feel vibration and light.
Common habitats for night ship include gardens, fields, lawns, golf courses and any other reasonably mild area consisting of a large area of damp dirt. They tend to spend most of the time in tunnels that dug under the soil, although they often come to the surface at night and during rainy weather, behavior that scientists do not fully understand. The worms will survive mainly on the decay of plant matter, although they can also eat fecal mass and unfolded insects. While many consider the night cords unpleasant to look at them, and therefore consider them to be pests, in fact, they perform two important jobs in the soil they inhabit. First of all, the IR constant tunneling is used to aerate the soil and improves its ability to circulate water and air. This can contribute to the health of grass, flowers and other plants that can grow in the soil. Second, fecal oDad and urine released by these worms contribute to the soil with valuable nutrients and minerals.
Nightcrawlers are also a source of food for many different types of animals, including birds, frogs and insects. Many North American fishermen also commonly use them for bait. In fact, some individuals work as NightCrawler harvesters, collect worms at night and then sell them to the bait store suppliers.
