What are the best methods for repairing plasterboard?

The best methods for fixation of plasterboard depend on the type of damage. Damage to plasterboard can range from the hair line to a large hole. Repair of small cracks and holes will require filling the crack or opening using a joint compound and smooth grinding. Repairing larger holes will require the replacement of the wall section with another plasterboard. They could include a substance to clean the surfaces before repair, utility knives, sealant knives, joint mixture, sandpaper, glue, other pieces of plasterboard, hammer and nails. It is important to know which type of repair will be used to fix the plasterboard to collect the right materials. First, the surface must be clean and dry. The sealant knives can be used to distribute the joint compound on the crack of plasterboard. The compound should be pressed as far as possible into the crack. The compound should be allowed to dry and then be ground. The area will then be ready to be prepared and painted.

Larger cracks in plasterboard require a different approach when plasterboard is fixed. This area should be prepared in the same way as for repairing a small cracks. A thin layer of joint compounds should be placed on the crack and a piece of joint tape should be placed. Another thin layer of joint compounds should be placed on the joint tape and the area should be allowed to dry completely. After the area is dry, it can then be ground and corrected and painted.

Small holes in plasterboard can be filled and plastered. The hole can be filled with an item such as the taste of the newspaper, and then a thick layer of joint compounds can be placed through the hole. To ensure that the surface is flat, several repeated applications of the joint compound should be used. Each layer must be the way before adding another. After applying the compound and dry, the area is ready for grinding, prepared and painted.

Repair of larger otGypsum rafts generally include replacing plasterboard instead of its repair. The saw can be used to cut off a square or rectangle into the wall around the hole and the whole part can be removed. A piece of the extra plasterboard can be cut by 2 inches (5.08 cm) larger than the part that was removed from the wall, then the plasterboard layers can be cut and left a 2-inch (5.08 cm) edge of just paper. The edge of the opening can be covered with glue and a spare part located through the hole. The joint compound can be placed along the seams and left to dry and then can be ground, ready and painted.
