What causes pearls to be different colors?

Pearly comes in different colors and shades, from white, cream and pink to black with blue, green or purple undertones. Many factors are responsible for the color of the pearl, but it is largely by chance. Black oysters usually do not create white pearl and for other oysters it is very rare to produce a black pearl. In addition, there is little certainty about what color pearls you can expect harvest from certain oysters or certain areas. Natural pearls are very rare and expensive and consist of concentric layers of Nacre around a possibly microscopic irritating, such as a piece of sand. The cultivated pearls are produced by introducing the core of the shell, usually perfectly round and allowing several layers of Nacre.

Factors that contribute to color include the type of oyster, thickness and number of layers of Nacre and possibly tracing elements in the aquatic environment of oyster. The pearl manufacturer can also affect the color of the pearl by introducing tissue from another oyster to host ÚS to some extentThree with the core of the shell. The color of the pearl is determined by a combination of factors: basic colors, undertones and rainbow. The cultivated pearls are also colored.

The stronger the Nacre, the richer the color of the pearl and the more it turns out. The thin Nacre tends to create a milky -looking pearl with several undertones. The pearl iridescence is caused by overlapping layers of translucent Nacre.

The color of the pearl may or may not affect its costs, even if the uniformity of the color makes the pearls more valuable. The black pearls were very rare and very valuable, but now they are cultivated and subsequently more accessible. Natural white pearls are more rare and more valuable than cultivated black pearls. The best color is largely a personal choice, or anything, the most flattering of the skin tone, although regional preferences exist and can affect the price.
