What is a Bengal cat?

Bengal cat is a relatively new domestic breed of cat, which was deliberately created in the United States at the age of 60. Selective breeding of Asian Leopard cats with domestic breeds, such as Egypta Maus or Abyssian, breeders could create a new breed that had a home temperament while preserving wild physical qualities. The Bengal Cat breed is recognized in Europe, Africa, Asia and America by the International Cat (TICA) and Australian Federation of Cats (AFC) in Australia.

Asian leopard cats are small, wild cats found in most Asian countries. Measurement of about 25–32 inches (63.5–81.3 cm) and weighing £ 7-15 (3–7 kg) are the most remarkable of these cats with their silk leopard spots. Their scientific name and source of the name of the Bengal cat are felis bengalensis .

The breeding programs begin with exceeding Asian leopard cats with a home cat. After the initial wild cross, the first four generations of cats are considered hybrids and not novLittle species or suitable for pets. Breeders usually exceed the female hybrid with a domestic man because male hybrids have an extremely low fertility rate. After the fourth generation, the resulting descendants are considered domestic cats and can be sold commercially.

Bengal cats have retained distinctive patterns of their ancestors of wild cats. Bengali are always brown or white shades with dark brown or black leopard spots or swirling patterns called marbling. They seem to have a metal shine as if the hair sprinkles with gold glitter.

brown tires with lighter abdomen are more common than white base shells. Color classification is slightly different in Europe and the US. European color classifications refer to darker shades such as "brown" and white shades like "snow." The US, although it also has the classification "Brown" and "Snow", also adds "Mink" and "Sorrel" for greater resolution.

As big cats, the Bengali weigh between £ 6 and £ 20 (£ 2,7-9). Men are usually larger and heavier than women. For well -said bodies, Bengal cats are highly athletic and active. They generally live for about 15 years.

playful and friendly, Bengal cat is a good pet for adults and children. Unlike many cats, the Bengalci often enjoy water, even known that they occasionally join their owners in the shower. Unofficial evidence suggests that these cats can be hypoallergenic, which means that they tend to cause allergic reactions. However, scientific studies have not been conducted about this phenomenon.

While the Bengal cat is a healthy breed that does not require any special diet, has no chronic health problems and requires only weekly brushing, is considered an exotic breed. Prices for Bengal cats are therefore usually high. Adult cats usually cost about half as many kittens and cats in the quality of the show will probably be at least double nAid on a kitten quality for pets.
