What is a blue crane?

Blue crane, also known as a crane Paradise or Stanley Crane, is one of the smaller members of the crane species. Blue cranes are 40 to 47 inches (1 to 1.2 m) high, about 50 inches (127 cm), they have a span of approximately 60 inches (152 cm) and weigh £ 8.8 to £ 13.6 (4 to 6.2 kg). The blue crane has a distinctive color: its body is pale blue gray and has a pink account, a white crown and a dark gray feathers that are so long that they almost reach the ground. Males and women of this type of crane have the same characters, but the man has an account that is slightly longer. They are also often found in pastures and agricultural areas. In addition, the blue crane will feed and nest in shallow wetlands where they are available.

The blue crane eats mainly plant material, including small bulbs, roots, tubers and grass seeds and blade. It's Omnivore, so it will also feed on several kinds of animals. Blue cranes are partial for insects such as caterpillars and grasshoppers, as well as crabs, fish, reptiles and small mammals.

geographically, the blue crane is only found in South Africa. Almost all blue cranes live in the borders of South Africa and it is a national bird of the country. Less than 1 percent of blue cranes live elsewhere and are in very small isolated populations in Western Study and North Namibia. This type of crane migrates only locally. They spend the summer reproduction period on pastures at higher heights and in autumn and in winter it moves to lower heights with its chickens.

pairs of paired blue cranes will produce only one chick of two eggs during the reproduction period. Blue cranes like to nest in isolated grassy hooks will be laid either on bare ground or in the middle of grass. Eggs are incubated by both parents for about 30 days. After hatching, both parents take care of the chickens for 85 or more days until their first flight. Then the man becomes the protector and the woman nourishes young birds.
