What is Bosquet?

Bosquet is a type of ornamental French garden, which consists exclusively of evenly distributed trees. Bosquets were popular in formal gardens during the French Renaissance and were not well known in America only in about 1970. They say they symbolize order and harmony. The word "bosquet" comes from the Italian word bosco , which means wood. Bosquets consists of the same species, they must have at least five trees. The trees are arranged in a straight line and usually create a square. A pair of bomats often line the pedestrian path, the upper branches are mixed to provide a shadow of a similar canopy.

In the French Baroque gardens, bosquets were considered an essential element. These gardens were usually seen around palaces and other expensive structures. The Verziailles Palace, France has one of the most famous Bosquet gardens on its premises.

Bosquet trees branches are removed from the lower parts of the trunks to highlight the uniformity of trees. The use of native trees was an important HLanden, hazel trees and Hornbeam were popular in France with the ice. The gardens were originally paved with gravel, but as soon as the lawn mower was invented, Bosquets began to have grass under the trees.

Simple bosquet can only consist of a small tree stand, but more complicated gardens had complicated designs or large groves with closed areas or cabinets to allow privacy to guests. These areas usually have a curved path as an access point with the entrances of the frame grid. Cabinets can also contain decorative elements. One tree can be placed in the center of the cabinet or the sculpture can be lined with flowers.

The chessboard patterns were also options for larger gardens. Cabinets containing drawing would alternate with tree squares. These sections would bordered in the garden.
