What is a butterfly vase?

The

butterfly vase is an open container decorated with butterflies. They are designed to hold flowers and sometimes umbrellas and parasols. Others are used only for display purposes and have no functional value on them. The butterfly vase can be made of porcelain, glass and crystal with its value depending on its age, provenance and quality. It ranges from Mesoamerica to China through ancient Greece and Europe. The Mayan and the Poilec cultures compared the butterflies to the fire, while the Chinese saw one butterfly as a young man in love. Meanwhile, the Japanese and the Greeks saw a butterfly as a representation of the human soul. Western culture often combines butterflies with fairies due to the similarity of their wings. Wucai porcelain is especially famous. The Chinese like to combine Butterflies with dragonflies and flowers. Together, a pair of butterflies often represent a few young lovers. Such porcelain pieces were hand painted before using a protective coating. International attention was given to the vases of Chinese butterflies. In 2008 was a butterfly vase QianlonGu appreciated at $ 6.9 million USD (USD) when it was built for auction. The vase was an imperial famille pink and painted butterflies and flowers such as morning glory, hibiscus and carnations. The vase cost 18 inches (45.7 cm) high.

ceramic vases with butterfly motifs were found in parts of Mexico. The butterfly motif was particularly associated with the city of Teotihuacan, but also spread to the Escuintla area in modern Guatemala. Other vases depict the combinations of human beans and the deities wear butterfly headbands.

The

butterfly vase is also made of glass and crystal productions. Flowing glass tends to lead to abstract representations, as in the vase of peacocks. Other patterns are placed on a normal vase base as decoration. This tends to be multicolored. Crystal Ware, as it is in Waterford, Ireland, uses lead as a calcium replacement to give it a unique look.

Many manufacturers and artists give their own rotation of butterfly motifs, and therefore there are a number of options. The vases where the glass is shaped or the formula is manually painted is the tendency to be more prestigious and more expensive. Vases using printing painting and additional decorations tend to have a lower value.
