What is Caique?

Caique is either of two clearly colored parrots, originally from the Amazon Basin in South America. Caiques belongs to the family pionites and are divided into white corners, pionites leucogaster and black main caiques, pionites melanocephalus . In the wild they dwell in the canopy and fodder for seeds and fruit. Caique has also become a popular domesticated species that was considered to be pets for its energy and playfulness.

Caiques are vocal birds in the wild and spend most of the time in small groups in the rainforest. They have a dependent account and a flexible language they use to open nuts and feathers. Adult caique is usually about 9 inches (23 cm) and weighs between 4.5 and 6 ounces (130 and 170 g). Man and woman Caique look similar, so the only way to say the sex of the bird is surgical or DNA sexula dependent on his parents on survival. The chickens remain in the nest for up to three and a half months and are sexually maturing between the two and four years.When they connect, they are monogamous and can stay for a lifetime. The woman puts two to four eggs at a time and incubates them alone for about 27 days. The male does not help with incubation, instead brings female food until the eggs are hatched.

Caiques usually connects well with people, prefer a lot of playing and interaction with their owner. Unlike other types of parrots, Caiques is not so adept when speaking or imitating voices. Most Caiques will learn to whistle and sing rather than speak and can easily produce short melodies.

Caique as a pet tends to have a stronger personality than other birds.Although it is known to be charismatic and funny, Caiques may also seem moody and demand time and attention from its owners. Naturally, Caiques do not trust other bird species at home, although many Caique owners have been a great success to maintain more Caiques together, either as pairing couples or just companions.
