What is Clapperboard?
Clapperboard is a device used in a movie, television, and advertising that helps with the process of synchronizing audio and film recordings. Because the sound and film are usually recorded separately, they must be carefully compared during the adjustment process, or the resulting production will feel slightly gone for the audience. When synchronization is extremely poor, it can become almost comic book, but even small inconsistencies can be very disorient for viewers.
There are two components to Clapperboard: Klapper and Slate. Clapper consists of two pieces of wood or plastic that can be set together to create a distinctive noise that can be easily found when recording sound. By assigning CLACK sound to physical action in the movie, the editor can synchronize sound and film recordings. Clapperboards are sometimes also distributed as a memento of film production.
SLATA is used to record information about the program, including the name of the production, the director, the director of the photo and the scene. On the slate are also written soé number and angle of the camera. This information helps people in the editing room and allows them to quickly know what they are looking at by reading a clportboard.
For the use of Klapperboard, the film crew sets up the scene, writes information on the cllapperboard, holds a flap and then turns on the camera. Slate information is usually read and then the clapper is snapped. Then the actors can start playing. The sound on the set is picked up and recorded on one device, while the scene of the scene is stored in the camera.
Clapperboards do not necessarily have to be woven to mark the scene. Some movies use digital slate in which the timer is synchronized with the camera. When a flap of the beginning of the scene, the camera, it records time on the board, allowing the editor to find the same point in the movie or digital recording to later synchronize with sound.
6 For example, an editor who wants to find a specific scene on which he willwork could check the book Continuity to find out where it should be placed.
