What is a cap?

Dune Cap is a conical paper hat, often marked either by the letter "D" or the word "dune" and previously used as a method of punishment through public humiliation in classes. Students who were slow, lazy or considered stupid were forced to sit in the corner of the classroom with a dune cap, often on a high stool after being physically punished. In some schools, slower students would be separated to the "dune table" to avoid other students. In most modern schools, students who have learning difficulties are identified as requiring special attention, and are usually referred to further assessments than to be humiliated with a cap. Dune Cap is related to the philosopher of the 13th century, John Duns Scotus, originally in Scotland. Scotus's philosophy was extremely difficult to understand, but had a loyal group of followers who became known as Dunsmen. In the 16th century, progress in philosophical thinking to the general rejection of the teachings of Scotus and its followers, Dunsmen, wouldIf ridiculed. The term "dune" became synonymous with "idiot". Many of his followers resisted the progress in thinking, leading to the association of hardness and slowness with dunctions, as well as idiots.

Dunsmen wore a conical cap of Dune because they believed that the hat would increase their knowledge. The idea of a peak or point representing the peak of knowledge is common to many societies, and Scotus also believed that the hat would cheer on the wearer. These Dune caps were probably made of felt or other stiff materials so that they did not coincide or close as they were worn. Although it could be like a symbol to be proud of NAF, Dune Cap began to be used as a method of public humiliation, due to a negative connection with Dunsmen.

Education faith has changed radically since the 16th century, when degrading students in front of the classroom were considered beneficial or entertaining. The use of dunc caps persisted in the beginningThe twentieth century along with corporal punishment for incorrect students' behavior. However, the Dune cap is rarely used by modern educators, although it appears in popular culture in the form of cartoons, books and jokes.
