What is dwarf spruce?
The miniaturized version of the spruce tree with slow growth speed is referred to as "dwarf spruce". These coniferous trees evergreen belong to the family picea , as well as the standard -size spruce trees. There is no single type of dwarf spruce and most varieties are simply smaller versions of standard pads. The most popular dwarf spruce is the dwarf albert spruce, also called the dwarf white spruce, but the dwarf blue spruce is another common variety. Standard Albert spruce reaches a height of 49 to 98 feet (approximately 15 to 30 meters), while the dwarf version can reach a height of about 8 feet after a 25 -year maturation period. Due to their size and conical shape, mature dwarves of Albert are often used as Christmas trees. They have a short, thick need that starts with a light green shade and become gray green as branches become old. There are other types of spruce trees of the dwarf Alberta, but most commonly used conica " em>.
Thecone dwarf spruce trees thrive in a cold, humid climate, but can also grow in a warm hot climate. Trees can be connected once a week in mild weather, but may require more frequent watering in dry, hot conditions. Like all evergreens, the dwarf Alberta grows throughout the year, but the landscape creation may need to wrap young trees in a bag during the harsh winter months, as strong frosty winds can dry and cause long -term damage. These trees also require well drained soil and partial to full sun to survive. Plants can be cut into different shapes, but a gardener or landscape painter must do very little pruning if he wants the tree to keep its natural conical apeciate.
Another popular type of dwarf spruce is the dwarf blue spruce. picea pungens "globosa", " also called blue withMRK Globe is the most common type of dwarf blue spruce, although there are other varieties. Standard blue spruce trees grow to a height of between 82 and 89 feet (approximately 25 to 30 meters), but this particular dwarf reaches heights between 3 and 5 feet (approximately 1 to 1.5 meters) within 10 years. This evergreen is a popular shrub in gardens and landscapes. It has a globular shape and a relatively flat peak. The branches have a clear blue -green shade and are densely packed together.
Globe blue spruce trees are best when planted in full sun and in well -drained or dry soil. This dwarf spruce can easily adapt to other conditions, but a dedicated gardener or landscape painter should avoid planting shrubs in full shadow or consistently soaked, wrapped soil. The tree needs weekly watering, but does not need to be soaked. Consistent pruning is required to maintain the shape and size of the plant.
