What is Fangtooth?

Fangtooth or or Anoplogaster Cornut is one of the deepest ocean fish living up to 16,000 feet (5,000 m). This wild -looking fish, also known as Ogrefish, Shorthorn Sabretooth and the Devil's Berycoid, get its name from a disproportionately large jaw and tooth of a sharp needle. The lower teeth of Fangtooth are so large that they developed specialized pockets in the mouth to allow him to close his jaws. Despite his excessive fangs, Fangtooth is a small fish that usually reaches 6 inches (16 cm). It is known that this small fish will climb the nearby surface to feed at night, but during the day it always returns to lower depths. Fangtooth has little eyes and bad vision and is assumed to hunt a sense of touch. It has a comb along the spine that increases the sensitivity to its surroundings.

The fish lives in the case of intermediate and tropical oceans, especially the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. She adapted to life in almost freezing water deep below the surface. Larger predatory fish like tuna and marlin feed on Fangtooth, albeit usualE only when Fangtooth starts too near the ocean surface.

The reproduction period for this deep sea fish is June until August. After hatching, larvae appear similar to plankton. Unlike an adult, he has juvenile tips on his head, a swimming bladder for buoyancy and temporary missiles that filter in aquatic organisms that feed young fish. The length of about 3 inches (7.6 cm) a young fish becomes a mature adult and loses the spikes of the head and missiles. Swimming bladder decreases in the adult to make Fangtooth descend further down into the sea. As adults Fangtooths eat small fish and crustaceans such as shrimp. This Fish time was timely other fish of almost one third of the size of her own body.

Scientists have collected relatively little information about Fangtooth fish. Before 1955, scientists believed that a juvenile was a different species than an adult because of his strikingly different appearance and habitat. BestThe only difference between youthful and adults is the only number of conventional teeth of the former compared to excessive adult fangs. Juvenions usually inhabit surface water, while adults usually live in the deep sea.
