What is a frog?

Frogbit, or hydrocharis morsus-ray is a water permanent plant that comes from marshes and shallow waters in parts of North Africa, West Asia and Europe. Water gardeners appreciate their ability to provide a shadow under the floating weight of leaves, stems similar to stools and roots. The shading of the pond usually helps to slow down unwanted eyelash growth and provides a cool area where fish can relax and hide from predators. In summer and sometime autumn it produces white flowers.

floating aquatic plants generally absorb nutrients that feed on unwanted eyelashes. Most water gardeners try to keep 50 to 70 percent of the pond surface covered with leaves. Frogbit plants are either floats on shallow water or peat bog, often called marginal plants. Here the frogbit masks the artificial outline of the pond and provides a cover for wild animals such as frogs. Generally, White flowers, three-overstated and in the shape of a bowl, similar to simple poppy. Male flowers grow in clusters of up to four flowers; Women areu usually lonely. Each has three paper, wide ovate petals that do a yellow place at the base of each petal.

The cultivation of this plant is generally easy. He still prefers, shallow water that is alkaline. The plant usually stands out in water that is deep enough to float, but shallow enough to get the roots into the mud at the bottom of the pond. They can survive in deeper water, but may not thrive.

gardeners can buy water school plants. Growers can sow the seeds in shallow trays in water or in spring to divide stolons. One of the few pests who attacked plants is an ordinary snail that will chew holes in the leaves.

Frogbit grows in warm climate. In cultivation, the pond must usually be a deep enough winter not freezing at the bottom. Although the weight of leaves and shallow roots, deeper roots and buds hover on the surfaceThey winter at the bottom of the pond. In the spring, plants rise to the surface and produce new plants.

As with many fillers with a pond, Frogbit often becomes invasive. Usually the best way to control it is to manually pay. As a rapidly growing perennial, it usually recovers quickly. The US government mentions this as an invasive species, especially in large lakes.

people often confuse a frog with a conventional water lily. The plant has a smooth, rounded heart -shaped leaf, which is purposed on the underside. Usually, green leaves are 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) across. Flowers are much smaller than water lilies and have only three petals, while lilies generally have more petals. The frog flowers can have a diameter of up to 0.5 inches (1.25 cm).
