What is a garage pergola?

Pergola is a structure made of beams or grid work, which is sometimes used to support wine vines or hang baskets. When it is connected to a garage or barn, it is known as a garage pergola. The structure often extends just above the top of the door. At other times, the pergola could stretch from one side of the building and provide a shaded area for people to sit. They can be placed just above the door itself or across the structure. They usually consist of a strut on both sides of a piece together with support rays that hold runners or long narrow pieces of wood. Open grilles or strips of vinyl or wood are usually placed on top of the runners, with a small space between each strip. Sometimes they can be used as an extension of the garage serving as a temporary autort. These modes are usually larger units that are connected to the side of the building. Units that are more formal can also have a concrete or stone floor.

Connected pergola can have large posts spread out every six to eight feet (1.83 to 2.44 m) for support. At the top of each post is usually a support beam horizontally. Smaller rays are then placed on them in the opposite direction. It is usually open from all sides, with the exception of the party next to the garage.

Garage pergola is often used as a decorative structure. It can be painted to match the tiles, or a complex crop can also be added. Some house owners can train plants such as ivy or climbing, and grow on the structure. At other times, the hanging baskets of flowers from one of the upper rays could be suspended. This is usually done in larger structures that reach from one side of the building.

Once a garage pergola is built, it usually needs very little maintenance to make it look nice. Most of them are also very robust and can take several years. Home owners usually do not need a great construction experience in order to be able tobuild one of these structures. This means that adding attached pergolas to a garage or other extension can be a good idea for many homeowners.
