What is Amaranth's Globe?
Globe amaranth is a group of annual plants belonging to the amaranthaceae family. While they come from South America, they are among the most common garden plants and are grown almost everywhere. They are eternal, which means that their dried flowers will last indefinitely. They maintain their shape and light color for years, so they are often included in dried floral arrangements, including wreaths, sprays and bouquets. Gomphren Globosa is the variety of amaranth globus most often grown for this purpose. They love hot weather and produce flowers continuously throughout the summer and autumn if the weather remains warm. Rubber -shaped flowers bloom in shades of pink, purple, white and scarlet, depending on diversity. They are known as plants because cutting these flowers stimulate plants to constantly produce more. Although they are tolerant of drought and very hot weather, they will not beto endure the smallest hint of cold. As the air begins to cool in the fall, these plants shrink quickly and collapse to the ground. Although they prefer fertile, well dug soil, they will grow almost anywhere if it is provided by a lot of bright sunlight.
All types of amaranth globus make very good as container plants and look especially nice when they are combined with flowers with gray leaves such as Artemisia or Lavender. When planted in the garden, they mix well with Heuchera, Edelweis and a permanent sage. Colibrates and bees are attracted by live flowers, as well as many types of butterflies.
Unlike many other types of flowers that are used for drying, Globe Amaranth Flowers do not need any special peels. It dries directly on the plant and can be easily selected when they feel dry and paper. No other treatment is required and can be used immediately at the USOrganizing dried flowers. Flowers can also be selected while they are still fresh and suspended upside down in bundles in a cool and dry place until they completely dry.
These highly ornamental plants are easily grown from seeds and should start several weeks before being planted outside. The seeds will germinate faster if they are soaked in the water overnight before it is planted. Amaranth Globe plants can usually be found in larger garden centers for those who do not want to start their own from seeds. They should not be planted in the ground until the soil touches.
