What is the Hickory tree?
The Hickory Tree is a type of hardwood tree belonging to the nut family and scientifically classified under the family Carya , an ancient Greek word, which means "walnut". The Hickory tree has large, flat leaves and produces seeds stored inside the nuts that grow on it. It is known for its edible nuts and its strong wood makes it excellent building material. There are currently about 15 species in North America, while there are about four to five species in East Asia.
