What is the hose connector?
The hose connector is a device that can be installed at both ends of the hose. It is used to connect to a hose to other devices, including faucets, spigots, nozzles or other hoses. These connectors are also known as fittings or clutches. They are often identified as male or women where male connectors are inserted into the women's hose connector.
Most hose connector models can be twisted to and off from the hose by twisting either the connector or the hose itself. Some units have an easy mechanism that uses swivel nuts to connect or disconnect the hose. Rather than turning the entire hose connector, users can only turn a rotating nut to prevent twisting or breaking in the hose.
These connectors are usually made of some form of plastic or brass. The plastic is more affordable of these two and is also known for its low weight and easy use. At the same time plastic connectors are not as resistant as brass units and is more likely to be a breakthroughsharp impacts, strong weather or other factors. Brass is heavier than plastic, but over time it tends to be much more durable. Avoid metal connectors made of materials other than brass because they are susceptible to resision or corrosion.
There are a number of different types of hose connectors from which you can choose, depending on the design and hose design. Standard units connect one hose to a faucet or other hose, while dual or four -way units can connect two or four hoses to a separate device. Some hose connector models have built -in valves that facilitate the water on or off, while others come with covers to prevent damage to the hose. These connectors often come in sets that contain several different units to suit the wise diversity of needs.
When selecting a hose connector is one of the most considerations the size of the unityky. Connector sizes are usually given vameric standard pipe size, which corresponds to the size of the hose or faucet. Outside the US, hose connectors can be administered using a nominal pipe size (NPS), making it easier to find the right connector for your hose or pipe. Other connectors can be measured by diameter. When selecting a hose connector based on the diameter, make sure that distinguish between the outer diameter and the inner diameter.
