What is Kodiak Bear?
Kodiak Bear is a brown bear that lives in the Kodiak archipelago in the Gulf of Alask. It is the largest of the species of brown bear, located only on the island of Kodiak and nearby islands on the southwest coast of Alaska. The Kodiak bear lives relatively isolated with rich food supply, which is responsible for the large size. This is also called Alaskan brown bear.
These bears grow almost as large as polar bears, while adult men standing about 5 feet tall (1.5 m) while walking on all four. Kodiak bears can cost more than 10 feet tall (3 m) when upright. It usually weighs £ 800 to £ 1,500 (£ 363 and 680) in the wild, while those who live in captivity can weigh much more. Females of women weigh about 30 percent less than men and have a smaller figure. These bears live between the age of 20 and 40.
Bears Kodias can feed separately or with others. Their main food source consists of salmon. This nutritional meal gives the fat needed to survive the charsh wiNters in the region. The Kodiak bear complements the diet with berries, nuts, seaweed and invertebrates. It seems to prefer food vegetation to kill animals for food.
When a bear is a man Kodiak for about five months, he is ready to reproduce. The sow usually carries offspring until they are about nine years old. Breeding usually starts from May to July, with chicks born during the period of hibernation, which takes place from January to March.
As the weather cools, pregnant sows first get into hibernation, usually in touches located in mountain areas. Adult men are the last to be hibernation and the first to appear in the spring. Studies show about one quarter of men who are never hibernation at all.
sows will carry one or two chicks that weigh less than a pound (0.4 kg) at birth and are born blind. One significant feature of offspring includes white ring Aroua Krk that remainsHow many years. Before they arrive in spring, the chicks can rise to £ 20 (9 kg). They usually rely on their mothers for the first two or three years of life. Women give birth every four years.
The Kodiak bear resembles the bear grizzly with remarkable differences. The Kodiak bear is bigger and has a wider face. It is covered with hairy hair that grows longer than the hair on grizzly. The fur ranges from almost blonde to chocolate color. Kodiak Bear claws are always visible protruding from flat legs and a small tail helps to identify this bear compared to grizzly bear.
This species is protected by the US government along with the habitat of forests, rivers and coasts. Kodiak bear hunting is allowed, but strictly regulated to maintain the number of bears in the wild. Getting a hunting license for one of these bears is considered quite expensive and less than 200 bears are usually killed each season.
