What is Kurt?

Kurta is a very free mounting shirt, similar to tunic. It is a traditional, unisex piece of clothing that originates in the Middle East countries. The shorter version wearing only women is called Kurti. Other countries, such as Sri Lanka, Great Britain and Canada, call Kurt as Panjabi. The word "Kurt" is of Persian origin and literally means "shirts without collar". The sleeves are also free and hang on the wrist without narrowing. The main piece of the court is simply built of two rectangular pieces of fabric, one for the front and the other for the back. They usually open at the front with a button or a tie cap in the middle of the garment or just to one side. Occasionally some styles have buttons or closures in the shoulder seam instead of down to the center. It can be caught up with free pants of a similar material called Paijamas or Salwars and can be worn with stronger pants called Churidary. It is even acceptable to wear a court with jeans. This style is especially popular with women. Kurtas usually did not include collar but in recent yearsEch has been added to some styles by Stand up Mandarin collar for purely for aesthetic reasons.

Kurt can be quite informal or very formal depending on what material they are made and how they are decorated. Occasional summer courts are made of cotton or thin silk. Woolen courts provide more heat for the winter months. Formal Kurt can be made of luxury material, such as heavy silk, and may include decoration such as complicated embroidery and beads, especially around the hem and a hole in the front of the shirt. For formal OCCASI, a removable knob button is sometimes used. Many South Asian tailors specialize in their own Kurt.
