What is Ladyslipper?

Ladyslipper, also known as Lady Slipper or Lady's Slipper, is a type of orchid. Ladyslipper includes Mexipedium, Cypripedium, Fragmipedium, Pahiopedilum and Selenipedium. All these families belong to the Cypripedioideae subfamily, which in turn belongs to the Orchidaceae family. This helps to reproduce the orchid. The pouch resembles a skipman, which is how the flower has gained its name. The genera Pahiopedilum grows in tropical forests throughout Southeast Asia. This type is easy to grow, and therefore some species in this family have been overcrowded with orchid growers. Finally, Phragmipedium genera is growing in Central America to the anteer part of South America. It is also easy to grow, so it is also popular among orchid enthusiasts. The species in these families requires warm temperatures throughout the year, so if a person lives in a tropical climate, plants from these genera will have to be grown inside. However, plants of the genus Cyrpipedium can be grown outdoors in a slight climate.

Light requirements of the Paphiopedilum genus, the most popular Ladyslipper for the average orchid grower, are low to medium and the requirements for humidity fall within the level of human comfort. These requirements are facilitated by care. This genus also requires good drainage, which can be achieved using a growing pot with holes at the bottom and rapid drainage of orchids by the medium. The fist of the pahiopedilum should give a lot of water to the plant every time watering, but must let the roots dry a little between the burning. These orchids should also be regularly fertilized with special orchid fertilizers.
