What is the limit switch?

The limit switch is used to limit the activation of the electrical circuit. When the perimeter is "closed", the power flow allows the switch to the power supply to the powered device. When the "open" switch is, the switch is released and does not pass through electricity. Whether the limit switch is open or closed is generally determined by either the position of the powered device or the set time that requires the device to complete a specific task.

The most common type of limit switch is the mechanical limit switch. This switch monitors the location of a specific item and opens or closes when this item reaches a specific location. The switch is activated by physical contact or its deficiency. For example, the light inside the car often lights up when one of the doors is open.

Another type of switch is a centrifugal switch. This switch measures and is activated strictly at the speed of the monitored item. While Centrifugal Switch can have many purposes, it is widely used as a safety mechanismto turn off the device if it reaches a speed higher or lower than its accepted safety assessment. These switches are commonly used in motors and engines.

Limit switches are most commonly used in industrial environments. They are used for everything from the jack control to the pressure control to the safety of workers. Switches can be used to start, stop or reverse mounting lines; as sensors to detect completed activities such as stopping robotic arm of stacking materials around a certain height; Or as detectors that, in an emergency, involve safety devices such as fire doors. Examples of use are endless.

Household environment also uses limit switches. A good example is the standard garage door opener. Opener has two limit switches: one to check how long the electric cup is supplied to the engineOpening power and one to control the door travel time when it moves up or down. When the door reaches a certain point, the switches open to stop the door to hit the engine at the top or hit the ground at the bottom.
