What is Mulligan?
The term "mulligan" is used to first refer to something for the first time that it was the first time, the second effort was replaced by the first. Many people would call it "Do-Over". It is assumed that the term "mulligan" comes from golf, but its use has spread to many contexts such as business, politics and other areas. In golf, mulligans are not allowed according to the official rules of the game, but are often used during informal rounds. The informal rules on mulligans can vary very much and in general they are all the golfers agreed on.
Mulligans are most often allowed on launchers, the first shots taken on holes. They can also be allowed on any shots between tee and green. However, mulligans are almost never allowed on putty. The general idea is that no golfer wants to start a round wichudak tee, so if the first shot deteriorates, another is allowed. According to these rules, if the second attempt is also bad, it must becounted.
In other cases, a certain number of mulligans - usually one, two or three - are allowed per wheel. During the first nine holes, a specific number is sometimes allowed - usually one or two - and during the other nine holes are allowed the same number. If any number of golfers are played as a team, a certain number of mulligans can be allowed for the team or golfer.
Purchase of Mulligans in Fundraisers
Some golf tournaments that act as fundraisers allow golfers to buy mulligans to be used during their bikes. Often there is no limitation of the number of mulligans that can be purchased because each other gets more money for a thing. Some tournaments could sell different types of mulligans, such as those that can only be used on tee, only between tee and green or even on putty.

Origin
The origin of this term is vague, although there are many theories about how it started. Most of these theories include golf and usually include a golfer whose surname was Mulligan - although different theories indicate the different people who had this surname. The term is known to have been used in the late 1940s and one theory suggests that it could be as old as at the beginning of the 18th century. In this particular theory of a golfer who had to receiveMulligana, said the bike should not be considered as it started until the player came across a satisfactory tee on the first hole.
Another story is that another golfer, whose surname was Mulligan, hit a bad tee, so he again made the ball and hit another. His players began to call it "take a mulligan". Another story is that this type of shot was named after a golfer who was known for secretly playing bad shots as a way of cheating. There is even a theory that this term was first used by rich members of American rural clubs as an ethnic slur against golfers who were Irish immigrants and who were considered inferior golfers.
At least one theory suggests that the origin of this term was not at all related to golf. This theory states that Mulligan was a bottle of alcohol that was placed on the salon bar for customers to drink for free. So what happened to everything that was free - or without punishment - referred to as Mulligan.
