What is qipao?

qipao or or tangerine dress is one -piece dressed dress traditionally worn by higher class and rich Chinese women. QIPAO, also referred to as Cheongsam in southern China, gives the appearance of long, flowing shirts. After developing in design for centuries, it was once a simple dress that is now highly stylized decorative dresses that are worn for dressing or as a costume. The QIPAO, who was first worn by the nobility, had a tall, tight collar in its original form, so only the head and face of the wearer were visible; The sleeves and length were also long, so it was only possible to see the tips of the fingers and legs. These old stylish dresses were made of silk and were simply decorated on the collar, sleeves and hem with lace or trim. It has a defined mandarin collar, usually in height from 2 to 3 inches (5.08 to 7.62 cm). The edges of the collar are slightly rounded and meet in front of the neck with a slight opening "V". The higher collar is firmly fitting and designed to improveRK women who wear her, so her neck looks slimmer and long.

When performing the appearance of modesty, the nature of today's item not only increases the image, but also shows. The sleeves of modern clothing move on the length, some of which have a short, equipped sleeve of the type of cap and others reach the wrist. The dress will often have high side slits to provide a short but discreet view of female legs when they walk.

As in the past, qipao is never intended to be supplemented; As such, a belt or scarf should not be worn with it. It is an elegant dress, complemented by an undervalued way. Most often they are the only accessories they wear with it, earrings and/or bracelet. Today, QIPAO is sometimes worn over a equipped pair of silk or satin trousers. While QIPAO has developed in its design for centuries, but its different element of simple elegance has never changed.
