What is the red maple?
Red maple or Acer Rubrum is a large, deciduous tree that grows throughout Canada and the United States, where it is a state tree of Rhode Island. It is a fast growing tree that is a highly adaptable wide range of cultivation. In the autumn, the leaves of this soft maple will transform a number of bright red or dark orange colors, making it a frequent view in the public landscape and in large courts. Favorite cultivars include October glory, Red Sunset and Autumn Flame.
This tree is not for small areas because it can reach up to 60 feet (18 m) high. It is beautiful, three-alkla leaves are usually 3 to 4 inches (91 to 123 cm) and have serrated edges. For most of the year there are light green in color with white lower sides. In the autumn, however, they turn many different shades, including Scarlet, Crimson and pumpkin orange. Red maple is one of the first to turn color, and keeps its leaves for a long time, it does not lose them until the tkočas becomes much colder.
red maples are self -tanning and produce small clusters of red or green flowers at the beginning of spring, followed by strange seed pods called Samaras. Two round pods are associated with small wings below them. This gives them a look like a helicopter when they drive to the ground. They can make quite a mess when they fall in large quantities. Many of them will germinate the following spring and create countless small seedlings.
These ornamental trees grow much faster than sugar or Norwegian maples and are quite durable. In northern areas they prefer a humid environment and even live in swamps or marshy conditions. In these types of places they are the happiest and can survive the coldest winters. Red maple trees will also grow in a hot southern climate where they tend to prefer dry areas. These types of trees will grow in full sun or at the Shade Partiil and are not grim about typessoil.
red maple trees produce a sap that can be used to make maple syrup, although it is said to have lower quality than other maples. Wood from these trees is often used to make furniture. It is also used to produce several different types of musical instruments.
red maple is susceptible to damage to diseases and insect pests. In particular, the Asian long corner beetle has become a significant threat in the United States and Canada, where it destroyed thousands of these trees. There are also several different types of fungi that can seriously damage or even kill red maple trees.
