What is the corner?

The

corner is a type of carp that comes from the India River and other Asian regions, and has also been introduced with relative success in rivers and lakes in Japan, in the Philippines and some African countries. This fish is extremely important for commercial fishing in India. The scientific name for the corner is Elbeo Rohita .

also called RUI, the corner can reach a maximum length of 78.7 inches (200 cm) and weight up to £ 99 (45 kg). These fish have blue or black scales on their backs and lighter silver stands on the abdomen. They have one dorsal fin, as well as two breast and anal fins and a visible caudal fin or tail. Their mouths are small and their heads have no scales.

Lone species, the corner lives and feeds alone. These fish are mainly active in daylight and are largely a column feeder, which mostly eat algae and other water vegetation. They are euryhermal, which means they can tolerate changes in the water temperature, but needs warmer water than 57.2 ° F (14 ° C) to survive.

During the monsoon season from April to September, the corner will emerge. Women move into shallow parts of flooded rivers and lay 266,000 to 2,794,000 eggs, depending on the size of individual women. Temperatures ideal for friction, 71.6–87.8 ° F (22–31 ° C) are significantly higher than the minimum temperature that these fish can normally tolerate.

Juvenile fish eat primarily zooplankton and can swim in schools while feeding until it is reached by adulthood. The corner grows rapidly and during the first year they reach 13.7–17.7 inches (35-45 cm) and 24.6–28.2 ounces (700–800 g). These fish have not lived for more than ten years.

The corner is the most important type of carp in the commercial fishing industry in India due to low maintenance costs and high market value. Although most eggs or seeds are produced artificially in fishing itself, the seeds also gather from rivers to be used in hatchery. Fish usually sell on local marketsFresh but many of them are placed on the ice and supplied by a truck to places up to 1,243-1,864 miles (2,000-3,000 km). However, Iced fish have a lower market value than fresh then.

Ideally, fish are grown in ponds with organic methods and materials, so theoretically these hatchery are environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, bad practices, such as overstraction of ponds that produce more fish, lead to illness and increased use of environmentally friendly pesticides in some hatcheries. Especially in these non -ideal hatcheries, the corner is sensitive to many types of bacterial, fungi and parasitic diseases.
