What is a rotary vise?

The rotary vise is one type of swirling vise, a tool used in the punch. Visis bindings of flies have jaws that safely hold the hook, while the binding piece of the fly packs the fiber or other material needed to create a fly. The jaws of the rotary vice rotate with an extension that has a horizontal axis of rotation, unlike conventional visis, in which the jaws rotate around its own central line. The hook must be able to turn fully more than once in the same direction without stopping, but it should also be able to turn both clockwise and counterclockwise. One advantage is that the fly can be rotated in any way, allowing it to be checked from all sides. The fly is thus effortless to secure almost any flying material. Usually it is easier to tighten or release the mechanism of holding the hook, because the jaws also turn. The vise also has a rotary lock, and the extension locks and allows it to function as NeroTotal vise.

When it comes to adding additional material, rotation is a great plus. The rotary vise works well for dubbing, which simply applies fur on the thread and forms a nutmeg from wrapped fibers. Dubbing is wound around the hook by turning the clockwise direction.

Turning the vice greatly helps to add any material that is not easy to stay straight. This method can be used to add material with or without cradle, allowing the coil to rest between the binding operations. Adding ribbing must also faster with a rotary vise. If ribbing starts unevenly or caught together, the problem may quickly repair the simple rotation in the opposite direction.

While the ability to alternate the vise has certain advantages, it is necessary to consider several things to make the most of the Rotarua Vise. Whenever the vise turns, the fiber and the material turn on or off the hook, depending onlosses in the direction that turns. This means that it will be necessary to add multiple speeds after rotation before rotation. If not, the tied thread is released or another fiber will be added. This can almost always be prevented by adding the cradle to the goal to the vice, which holds the fiber far from the fly.
