What is scrim?

scrim, also commonly referred to as gauze , is a type of strong, coarse cotton material made of rectangular bond. This looks similar to the screen used in the window. The material is commonly used to produce curtains, but is also used for upholstery, librarianship and theater to help create special effects. When used for this latest purpose, it is usually referred to as Sharktooth scrim .

Many people believe that Scrim is an ideal material for curtains because it is light and translucent. It may also seem opaque when it is illuminated from the front at an angle of the diagonal, but when it is illuminated from behind, it becomes transparent. Thanks to this characteristic, it is particularly useful in the theater, because it can be illuminated from the front to block the view of the audience on what is happening on stage when scenes are changing. When the fabric is illuminated from behind, the audience can see again what is happening behind him.

scrim and other material called Bobbinette are often used forChangedly, although these two materials are not the same. The Bobbinette is hexagonal and wider, making it difficult to hide the appearance of objects when used in the theater. SCRIM can also be used with cycling , which is a large curtain used in the theater. When the cycles is lit, the supposed images become easily visible and then disappear again when the material is no longer illuminated. When both substances are used together, the assumed picture seems to have a depth.

Moira effect can also be created by placing one piece of fabric after another and then lighting on the stage. This effect is created when two patterns similar to the grid are placed above each other at an angle. The use of a substance for this effect can create a sense of disorientation in the audience while watching a screen on stage.
