What is Spliton?
Spliton is a vessel, usually a large vessel in which people produce (spit). For a while, especially in the United States until the beginning of the 20th century, it was common to see spitons in virtually every public place. The Americans often chewed rather than smoked tobacco, and therefore it was important to spit somewhere. Having a large, usually respected container in which Americans could spit an excess of "juice" from tobacco was a common practice not only in bars, but also in banks, hotels, restaurants and offices. People also usually had them in their homes. Several ceremonies made people spit on the floor, and Qing rulers tried to change it by providing porcelain vessels instead. Since the age of 80, most people in China no longer use Spittons and are rarely used in the US. One exception is, however, the numberitoon in the winery, where people can spit wine into one. Most people simply swallow wine, although it can be considered a Gauche among the most dedicated wine tastings.
American spittons were usually made of brass and are weighed to prevent them from taking over. The apparent clutter of cleaning the content of spilled spittooon hardly needs explanation. People would also use them to spit mucus, and so we can say that spittoons were probably hygienic as toilets, especially in many people who suffered from tuberculosis. Some spittons were equipped with outflows, while others were simply thrown and washed out before re -use.
Although in the UK there were spittons, they were much less used than in the US. The use of tobacco in the UK tended to smoking in a pipeline or to accept it as sniffing. British visitors were often shocked by the fact that American men seemed to be constantly. Charles Dickens writes in a letter from America: "Now we are in regions of slavery, spitoons and senators - all three are evil in all countries, but Spliton is the worst." The Americans of course faced that noThe son dripping with snorting cords was just as disgusting.
Since tobacco smoking has become more popular, Spittoons have gradually become less used. Many of them would suggest that we could only calculate the happiness that this was the case. However, smoking led to lung cancer, because chewing often led to neck and tongue cancer, and has also become a contemptible habit that many consider not only to be nasty but also very dangerous. Many hope that the ashtray will soon go on a split and will be considered a curiosity rather than a thing that is very used.
