What is a straw house?

Slama House is an example of green architecture, which is used in houses for construction and environmentally friendly. However, the concept of a straw house is not a recent architectural innovation that has been employed in a number of settings since the mid -19th century. The key to the construction of this type of house is the use of straw packages that are firmly packed and will probably last for a long time.

The basic design of any straw house will include the use of several different straw packages. To create packages can be used straw from any number of sources. Straw harvested from wheat, rye, barley or oats works as well. As long as the straw is firmly compacted, the packages can be quickly set to a place to create outer and inner walls. Once the packages are in place, they can be covered with stucco to seal the packages and prevent rodent contamination and a gradual disintegration that has been uncovered.

Today's traditional approaches to the construction of a straw house are still used to this day. The most basic method, known as the style of Nebraska, includes simple stacking packages into the walls, which in turn supports the wooden roof. The second method involves creating a standard wooden frame for home, using straw packages to fill around the support rays and create walls.

For the construction of a straw house has several advantages. One has to do with the total cost of construction. Since straw is a material that is easily accessible and extremely cheap, it is possible to build houses using straw packages for very little money. People looking for a way to build a sustainable low budget building often find that straw allows you to build a beautiful home at very small costs.

Another advantage has to do with the insulation properties of straw packages. With the right construction, the straw house is very easy to heat and cool. It canlead to significant savings of accounts for usefulness or allow the use of a smaller system of solar panels for heating and cooling the interior.

House of straw packages is also easy to rebuild. For example, the window can be added simply by cutting the section from the wall, sealing by exposed straw and installing the window frame. Creating a fixed wall is also a simple process that includes removal of windows and filling straw packages that are cut to fit closely into the space. The straw is then covered with stucco and creates a perfectly smooth and continuous wall.

In the age of when people are beginning to consider different ways of environmental life, the sustainable architecture of a straw house is worth considering. Ease of construction, excellent insulation and the ability to change or add to the original apartment without major problems, which is very attractive from this type for anyone who is interested in the process of sustainable life.
