What is Tansy?

Tansy is a plant in the family tanacetum , especially t. Vulgaris , a popular herb ornament used in the garden. This plant has been historically used for a number of medical purposes, although modern gardeners usually prefer to grow as ornamental. Gardeners should also be aware that it is considered invasive species in many regions of the world outside its native Eurasia and some horticultural organizations discourage its cultivation for this reason. Tansy also has a very sharp aroma, which is quite pronounced and unforgettable, and can explain why the plant has been used healing, because many traditional herbs have strong odor, suggesting that people believe that Odoriferous plants are beneficial than others. In some areas it grows as permanent and as an annual in colder areas.

Mana gardeners like this plant because it is very easy to grow and requires small to no maintenance. However, this may turn into a problem as the plant is freely proliferatedBehind the regions where it is planted and is difficult to eradicate it. Tansy can also simmer finer plants and amaze the garden with its scent, especially in warm weather or if it interferes with paths where it can be crushed and released a strong aroma.

Tansy is actually slightly toxic, which is somewhat surprising that its green and shoots were once consumed and used in medicine. Sometimes it was also used as a bitter herb in salads and the leaves were used to produce tisans and tonic to treat different conditions. In particular, the worms were treated because the plant has volatile oils that kill intestinal parasites, and some people believed that it could cause abortion, while others thought it supported a healthy pregnancy. Tansy also contains Thujone, an active ingredient in traditional absinthe.

In modern gardens, this plant can be used as a form of natural control of pests. Tansy tends to bounce insects so canE be planted as a border to protect more fine plants or grow in containers around the door to discourage flies and other unwanted insect visitors. Small children should be kept far from Tansa, because they may be tempted to chew toxic flowers, thanks to their clear color.
