What is a business jacket?

Color jacket, business jacket is a jacket worn by people who participate in the floors of the financial trade pit. The considered work clothes, commercial jackets are intentionally made in clear shades so that every trader and the financial company working work for easily recognizable. These garments, also known as a trading platform, are worn in all financial exchanges around the world and its surroundings. Their patterns are usually colored and clear, so they are easily distinguishable, even from a distance. Some are designed in traditional colors such as black and green, while others have flames or jungle prints. Many traders feel that a business jacket is like second leather. A business jacket is often personalized. It may have a character for the company for which the trader works, as well as a special logo that denotes a trader. The best known business jacket of all was Nick Leeson. Leeson was infamous because it caused the fall of Barings Bank for speculative trading. His jacket was offered by bankruptcy liquidators responsible for dissolution of KPMG for auction. However, its reserve price has never been met and Paul Taylor, a London financial manager, was sold instead.

The commercial jacket is increasingly outdated. The trade pit is largely abandoned in favor of electronic trading, so jackets will no longer be needed. Business jackets are often collected and held as valuable memorabilia by those in the financial industry. There is a decreasing market for a business jacket that many manufacturers have instead turned to make clothes for those in the culinary industry.
