What is tuberosis?

Tuberosis is a permanent plant grown from a bulb that blooms in summer with highly fragrant white flowers. Its scientific name is Polianhes Tuberosa; The name of the genus means "white" and "flower". Tuberosis comes from Mexico, but nowhere is found wild, only in cultivation. It grows best in a tropical climate and requires special care in areas with colder weather. High fragrant flowers are popular as cut flowers and are often used to produce perfume.

The tuberosis plant has a rounded cluster of bright green, long narrow leaves, which are approximately 18 inches (46 cm) long and arranged in spiral or swirl. From this base rises a high robust stem of 3 feet (91 cm), which holds a cluster of white flowers. Each individual flower has about 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) long and 0.75 inches (1.9 cm) wide. They have a tubular shape that is angry into at least six dense dense meat petals. Flowers have a very intense scent that is evident from a distance.

Although it is assumed that it came from Mexico, observations were not recorded in the wild. Tuberosis is known as cultigens, that is, it is only in cultivation. It has a history of cultivation that returns to preliminary times, and it is believed to have been grown by ancient Aztecs. It was first brought to Europe by the return of the Spanish conquerors and quickly became popular in Europe, Mediterranean, India and Africa.

tuberosis grows from bulbs and does best at warm temperatures, bulbs should be protected from frost temperatures. The best time for the plant is in spring, once night temperatures are at least 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius). The bulbs should be planted about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.6 cm) deep, located about 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) apart and slightly covered with mulch. In climates that receive frost temperatures, the bulbs should be raised from the ground and stored in a cold dry place for the winter after the vegetation seasonE has prevented the risk of freezing.

During the growing season, a tuberosis plant needs a full sun and should be regularly connected. The soil should be maintained moist, but not saturated and fertilizer can be used every other week until the flowering time is completed. Tuberosis is commonly used in the garden for edges, flower beds or containers located near the living spaces so that the smell can enjoy. The fragrance is also commonly used as a medium note in perfumes and tuberosis is still a very popular cut flower.
