What is the valley?
The roof of the valley is formed when two parts of the roof meet at an inner angle. These valleys are common to many roofs. The style of Cape Cod architecture is one type of house that is traditionally without a valley if there are no vinmer windows on the roof. Many times they are formed by a valley where the roof on the main part of the house meets with a garage roof, or when adding is placed on the original roof.
roof leakage in the valley is the most common type of roof leakage. These leaks can be caused by poor roof procedures or simply by the age of shingles on the roof. The roofer must be careful if the nails are placed in the roof valleys. If the nails are placed in the very center of the valley, there will be a leak. If the nails are located closer than 6 inches (15.2 cm) from the center of the valley, the tension could be placed on the shingle, causing torque. Within a few short years, this voltage could cause a shingle torn, which is then exposed to the roof of the elements.
The roof of the metal valley of the pomIt also eliminates these problems because the metal cannot tear the torque. Another advantage of metal roofs is that they are at least 50 years old. This is much longer than the average life expectancy of Asphalt Shingles for about 20 years.
The roof valley of the shingle can be the same type of shingles that are used in the rest of the house. The namkers use several techniques that allow them to use the same shingles on the entire roof instead of buying special shingles. These techniques are variations of fish bone pattern and create a very effective water barrier. One tool in the arsenal of the roofer is called the blinking of the valley. This flickering of metals is an efficient and impenetrable barrier that is laid under the shingles as an insurance against worn shingles.
The roof of the valley can collect leaves and other remnants. As the debris collects in this vulnerable area, the water no longer flows freely into the eaves. In the winter season in this area of the SHRIt rejuvenates ice and as the ice freezes and thaws, the shingles push around, causing them to move and wear. In addition to employing roofers who use the right roof techniques, the house owner should check the roof and eaves at least twice a year and clean any residues that clog them.
