What is Westphalian Horse?

Westphalian or Westfalen Horse is a German warm blod breed with a long and famous history. In addition to the Hanoverian horse, Westphalian is probably one of the most famous hot breeds, and the size of his well is only the size of the Hanoverians, which has an incredibly diverse line of mares and stallions that meet its demanding standards. These horses are well suitable for riding sports, especially dressage and jumping, and many horses in the Olympic competition are Westphalians. In the 18th century, the form of modern Westphalian began to appear in a tap in Warendorf in West Germany. These horses were originally bred as working animals, testing under the saddle and in agricultural persecution.

By 1888, Westphalian Studbook was founded. Horses who meet the breed standard are marked with Westphalian Crest. The wide range of colors is acceptable, with many Westphalians being brown, black, gray, chestnut or bay.

The breed has evolved from a working animal on a sports horse with a finer bone than its predecessors, and these horses are kept so that they are naturally friendly and athletic. As a sports horse, Westphalian can be used in competitions such as three -day events, jumping shows and dressage.
