What is a wild hyacinth?

Wild Hyacinth, Camassia Scolloides is a permanent flowering plant belonging to the Lily family, which comes from the Eastern United States and Southeast Canada. It is a herbal plant, which means it has a soft green stem that dies every winter, unlike a brown woody stem, such as those found on pink shrubs. The plant grows from a bulb that remains alive throughout the winter, and every spring produces new leaves, stems and flowers. Common names for this plant include Camas, Quamash, Indian Hyacinth and Eastern or Atlantic Camas. These leaves are surrounded by a flower stock that can grow up to 2 feet (0.61 m) high. Wild hyacinth flowers range from white to blue to lavender. The flowers have six petals that stretch in the shape of a star, and 6 sticks that stretch from the center, ending with bright yellow anthers. They produce a strong, sweet scent of Attract Bees and other pollen looking for insects. You can find them both in open prairies and in the woods, PDirectly due to their ability to grow well in the shadow or sun. The bulb of one kind, Camassia quamash was used for food by native Americans, but the rest of the plant is poisonous. Gardeners with sensitive skin may actually want to wear gloves when handling the plant.

In the US you will find Wild Hyacint on the eastern half of the continent along the east coast from Georgia to the Canadian border and extends to the west like Illinois in the north and Texas in the south. Due to colder temperatures in Canada, the race occurs naturally in limited areas on some islands in Erie. The race was placed on the Canadian list of protected species of the Act on Endangered Types of 2007 .

Hyacint is also cultivated for gardens and grown inside. The seeds of the plants first grow to bulbs, which eventually produce the plant. Most gardeners prefer tOmu to start with a bulb because it takes five years for five years for a remembered seed plant. Medium to large bulbs should be planted approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) deep and several inches apart; Smaller bulbs should be planted slightly closer to the surface.

other types of flowers around the world, such as various Bluebells found in Asia, Europe and Africa, are also referred to as wild hyacinth. Unlike American diversity, these plants have flowers in the shape of a bell or trumpet. Although they also grow from bulbs or rhizomes, they do not have a separate floral material. Their flowers, which grow at the end of the leaves of the leaves, occur in a series of blues, pink and white. Other common names for the European variety include Wood Hyacinth, Spanish Bluebell and Harebell.
